I had received my order of four boxes of 2011 Topps Supreme Football today and I was somewhat impressed by what I had opened. There was no damaged product and I received everything that I was supposed to receive according to the pack design. I do like the boxes the cards come in as I recycle them and use them for sending cards out to other people. Let us see what has been pulled.

Mr. Bilal Powell. I can't seem to get away from pulling his cards and it's driving me nuts. This is just his "common rookie" in the supreme series. It's limited to 429 copies.

First off I want to say, "Thank You" for all the kind words/emails/cards/support from my fellow bloggers, family and friends. It has been a very hard time for me personally and it's a wonderful feeling to know there is a support network behind me lifting me up! Thanks so much!

It's been a month today since my mother has passed away but it feels like it was just yesterday when everything happened. The children took it very hard at first but have been doing much better as time passes. My fiancee has been my rock for me and I can't begin to thank her and her whole family enough for the love and support they have given to me. As for my Aunt Pam (my second mom!) she has helped me to deal with the emotional side of things and has been "my therapist" at nights (she drives truck at night) and also the person to make me laugh when all I want to do is cry. What has made things so hard and very difficult for me is that a week after my mother was buried my Step Father had confessed to me that he was seeing someone already (thus after 24.3 years of marriage to mom). The whole thing in a nutshell is all the evidence leads me to think, feel, and believe that it this "relationship" was going on when mom was still alive. What makes me believe this relationship had prior existence is when I confronted my Step Father about it and as we discussed more details about it he won't fully answer me which leads me to believe that it was happening when Mom was with him and that he doesn't want me to kill him OR it wasn't happening then and he's still afraid I will kill him for dating so soon after mom's passing. Either way he has no remorse for his auctions and that's what drives me up a wall. He just keeps telling me that he needs a companion and cannot be alone. Then he has the balls to ask me to help get the house cleaned up as he's ashamed of how the house looks so he can bring this woman over for a visit since she's never been to Belleville before. I'm freaking speechless at this point. Personally I felt like putting him into a grave ( and most folks would've at this point ) but then I think about how Mom would've handled it and that is the path that I have decided to take with him. I told him that I forgive him for what he has done and I have already collected most of Mom's things from the house and I told him outright that I would be back in a few months to collect the last of mom's stuff and that you and me are finished. I also told him, " What you did to mom was tasteless, dishonorable, sick, and that you're a spineless bastard. I don't want anything else to do with you and you have no idea how lucky you are that I do not have you sitting at the bottom of Raystown Lake for what you did. Not only that but what kind of a woman see's someone who's wife just passed away? Oh and by the way....You said you wanted the house cleaned up right? Why don't you and your new girlfriend clean the house yourselves ". I have not heard much from my step father since our confrontation and hopefully he gets the point that I do not care to hear from him ever again. I walked away using the one thing that my mother always taught me growing up and that was to always forgive the other person. She'd always say, " forgive the other person no matter how hard it may be at the time but forgive them and do not let the hate/anger destroy what is in your heart. Walk away knowing you took the high road ".

And now regarding the fate of E.A.: My good friend Ryan is going to be stepping in my place for the time being. He's new to the world of blogging so be gentle with him------LOL! So I'm giving the reins to Ryan..........gonna let him drive the buggy for a while........handing him the bic lighter..........passing him the stogie.........letting him take charge for a bit............letting him slip a few in............letting him drive for a while with the 8-track cranked up............letting him have seconds............letting him into the circle of trust.........well you get the point. Hey we're night workers - would you expect anything less from us? I'm also stepping away for a little while to get refocused in life as my emotions have been all over the place lately. It's gotten to the point where I broke down and bought a box of Topps Tier One baseball. God what was I thinking by buying a box of this product. I just have one question regarding this product: HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET A REDEMPTION CARD FOR A RICKEY HENDERSON JERSEY PATCH CARD PARALLEL? REALLY.......REALLY.......REALLY.......REALLY. Sorry Topps but you guys dropped the ball on this product. Definitely not worth the $85.00 a box. I pulled a Chris Young auto limited to 75 and an Anthony Rizzo auto limited to 999 and a redemption card for a Rickey Henderson jersey patch card. I could see the necessity for a redemption if it was autographed but to me that's just plain laziness on Topps part by not having the product ready for shipment. OH I KNOW......Topps was still manufacturing the patch and didn't have it done in time to ship out. LOL! Freaking TOPPS! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Chris "The Crippler" Leben "lasso-graph"

Chris "The Crippler" Leben is a middleweight MMA fighter. He's had his up and downs and run-ins with the law as of lately and I like to think that it kind of shows through on his autograph as well. Here are some prime examples of what I mean.

He makes no effort in legible penmanship. Once again it feels like you're reading an EKG result. However there is one MMA fighter that takes the cake:

Georges St-Pierre. If you can pick the name "Georges St-Pierre out of that penmanship then you deserve to work for for the CIA or FBI.

I think it's safe to say (looks around the corner cautiously) that St-Pierre has quite the Canadian lasso-graph as it's just full of loops! Georges St-Pierre is currently out of fighting for the moment as he is recovering from having ACL surgery performed. That should give him some free time to practice his penmanship habits. If you get a chance try to catch an episode of UFC on spike TV.

Lasso-graphs

Tim has a section called, "Chicken Scratch" where he describes a little bit about an athlete's signature and how you can tell if it looks like "chicken scratch" or if it looks like the athlete cares about what he's signing. I collect something a little different that I like to call, "Lasso-graphs". Allow me to show you what I mean:

Take a glance at the autograph on this Stargate:Universe card. I enjoy collecting these kind of cards because this is where we get to see some serious ink loop-age and ink flying all over the place. How you would ever identify the name "Josh Blacker" from that signature is beyond me.

Here's another prime example of another prime "Lasso-graph":

Look at how she makes a big "O" followed by curves. Ona Grauer is pretty hot so we'll forgive her for her sloppy effort but that's still no excuse for poor handwriting. My nephew writes better than this and he's 6 years old for crying out loud!

Tim needs prayer support

I had spoken with Tim about starting a blog and he was showing me how he does his and he was going to have me guest write on here as he's in the process of making some changes. I thought I would post something up in support of him as he's my close friend and he's having a very hard time coping with the passing of his mother. Tim's mother had passed away this week and it has been a very difficult and struggling time for him and the children. Please remember to keep Tim and his family in your prayers.

Born June 24, 1946, in Chester, she was a daughter of the late Elias and Violet (Hoffman) Clark.
Her husband, Joseph Myers Wills III, whom she married Sept. 20, 1987, survives.

dad is getting beat by the flu

The kids and I were in town on business and on the way home my daughter asks if we could stop at Denny's (LCS- Clark's cards & Creations) since we were going by his place. So we stopped and when we went inside we saw sitting on the floor was 3 cases of 2011 Topps Platinum football. I figured we would try out a pack or two first but Denny did not have any opened yet and told us to pick a case to open. Now my chances of picking things is like NO LUCK AT ALL. So instead I let Caty pick which case since she usually has the hot hand. She ended up picking the middle case and when we opened it she picked a box from the middle of the case.

Here's what we pulled for our first 2 auto's:

Okay.......John Clay........undrafted rookie.........signed to the Steelers practice squad.........not exactly top talent here folks. As for Rahim Moore......at least he's starting for the Denver Broncos.

Then we move on to our relic/auto pull and I ended up pulling this:

Jamie Harper rookie autograph with a nice thick 3 colored patch. It's the number off of the shoulder pads. He has a total of 4 carries for 12 yards and 1 reception for 21 yards this season. No telling how he might turn out.

Then Caty opens the last pack in the box. She looks at me and says, "Hey Dad, here's an autograph of newton's panthers." Here's what she pulled:

Yeah.......I fell out of my chair as well after seeing what she pulled. Somebody at TOPPS gave us a Christmas bonus! SICK!

Topps 5 Star Football Questions

I posted this statement on the Topps Facebook page and it didn't last longer than 10 minutes till they took it down already. I think these are pretty legit questions in what I am asking of them regarding Topps 5 star football:

I have three questions regarding the upcoming 5-star football: 1. Will there be redemptions in this product? 2. Why do you continuously have to make it the same combo cards like Rice and Montana considering there has been how many player combinations/hook ups over the years? Why not something like Favre & Driver or something like Defensive Tandems say like "Ray Lewis and Ed Reed"? 3. Can you actually make it more like a jumbo pack and actually get more than 5 cards considering the price you have to pay to get all the cards if you attempt to complete the set?

Needless to say I doubt very much that I will have an answer from them at all.

The so called "fools" of upper management and Jack Del Rio at the Jacksonville Jaguars thought it was best to sever the ties to David Garrard and put all of their hopes and dreams of a Super Bowl into the hands of a craptastic QB named "Cool Hands Luke" McCown. Was it over money? Perhaps. Was it over inconsistency of David's health? Hmmmmm.......let's see how they match up:

CLASSLESS ACT ON THEIR PART. David deserved better!

As for David's autograph let us take a look at what we have:

I for one do enjoy the layout and design of the Topps Pristine cards. What I like the most about them is that his autograph is "on card". As for David's signature you can easily make out the first "D" and the last "d" in his first name. It looks as if the "avi" part is a straight line. As with his last name you can clearly again make out the first and last letters in the last name portion of the autograph: the "G" and "d". The "arrar" part seems equivalent to a curved and straight line. David has also added his jersey number to his signature and it is a clearly visible number. For his auto we give him 3 out of 5 sharpies!

This is the "Mini Mind" of the Big Kahuna greeting you once again for another round of "Pointless Jibberish". The Big Kahuna has had a rough couple of weeks and decided to take a day off and get some well deserved rest and do nothing but sleep. Whenever he lets that happen I'm allowed to come out and play while he snores away!!! Ok ok.....you know the drill. Here's some random thoughts that I pulled out of the Big Lug's head:

1. Why would you advertise a card contest to your customers and not have the site ready to go when your product goes live? SEE TOPPSLEGENDS.com for details. Once again......Topps fails.

2. Tim Tebow = funny article on usatoday. One should not bring religion into sports and say it's GOD'S will for me to be the Team Starting Quarterback/Starting Forward/Starting Pitcher/Starting Jockey/Starting Goalie/Starting Fluffer.

3. Topps needs to let go of the monopoly! SERIOUSLY!!!

4. Big Kahuna loves the NY Giants and hopes that the QB Eli Manning will come off of the drugs that made him say, "I'm in the same class as Tom Brady" on ESPN.com. Meanwhile, mild mannered Rex Grossman had milk come flying out of his nose from the bowl of Wheaties from which he was eating. The painful traumatic episode occurred while reading the article about what Manning had said. Meanwhile back at the Halls of NFL Justice, Tim Tebow said it was God's will for him to prepare a peanut butter and jelly sandwich because he was hungry.

5. Why does it seem like Penn State can never have a successful NFL career player? 2009 First round pick Aaron "Hasbin" Maybin was cut from the Buffalo Bills after mounting an astonishing 24 tackles and no sacks in a total of 22 games in 2 years. He had signed a 5 year contract with the team when he was drafted.
(P.S.-don't even say Kerry Collins was good. yes he may have had the numbers but his off field antics were despicable)

6. Anybody wanna bet that Chad Johnson does not make the opening day roster?

7. The smartest move in the history of the Chicago Cubs would be is to let Carlos Zambrano go away for good.

8. Guys who move to a new team for bigger money turnaround and end up playing like crap: see Vernon Wells, Jayson Werth, Adam Dunn, Andrian Beltre, JD Drew, Andrew Jones, or Jason Bay.

1. For someone who is supposed to be "holier than thou" and even signs his name with a biblical inscription is he really displaying what a Christian should act like? Especially when it's been reported that he has really been a prick to some teammates already and has stated that he should be on the majors level already.

2. I thought Milton Bradley had an attitude.......MOVE OVER and make room for Bryce!

3. This guy is struggling in AA ball and he wants to move up.

Seems like it's been a while since I've posted on here. I've been spending a lot of my time with family members and helping them to work at some serious family issues including my step father's suicide attempt (he attempted to OD on my mom's meds). In addition to those needs, my mother goes to dialysis four times a week in addition to her other weekly doctor appointments so I was running her to those appointments while my step-dad is/was recovering as he's usually "driving Ms. Daisy". As for my step-dad......he is alive and out of the hospital and doing much better now. He was started on Celexa and has been attending therapy sessions. There were apparently a lot of underlying issues that I did not know even existed because he's one of those "I don't need to talk about it" type of guys and my mother never really brought the issues to my attention because she didn't want to bother me about it since she thought he was just "speaking out of his ass" as she kindly put it. My mother then told me of the numerous times that he has threatened to "remove himself from the earth" and yet Mom never took him seriously. She never mentioned any of these things until it came out while he was recovering in the hospital.

Help is available for you, whether through a friend, therapist, or member of the clergy. Find someone you trust and let them know how bad things are.

I just needed to vent a little. Lots of stress! I know I've read some blog reports on the Nationals in Chicago and it sounds like it was a good turn out. Well the softball and baseball season is finally all wrapped up around the Kahuna's household for this year. No longer do I need to hear girls saying,"it's too hot to be a catcher" or "I'm missing a pool party ya know" or "can I just sit in the dugout cause I don't want to over tan myself." So far this past week alone I've already ran into two of my players and they both told me: "you made practices fun Tim and we miss that." I was happy to see them and I was glad to hear that they were both having a pleasant summer. I couldn't help it but as I was walking away from them I began tofeel a little tear forming in my eye.........because yeah...... I missed it too. There's next year to look forward to I guess!

As for the Mini-Me Kahuna......I was very proud of my boy and how his team ended up in second place in the playoffs. You see this team started out playing like the Bad News Bears (minus Billy Bob Thorton) and halfway through the season the team (Belleville Tigers) somehow found the divine Holy Mother of Baseball sparks and started playing better than the Major League level teams and most of the other teams in the minor league level as well. These kids were tearing up the score board 19-1, 18-6, 17-2. They were knocking off the top teams and went from last place to third place in the league. Well the playoffs started and in the first round they ended up blowing out their first round opponents 17-6. They advanced into the second round of the playoffs and they ended up knocking off the 2nd place team as well 18-7. Then it came time for the Championship game against the number one team (Longfellow Cubs) in the league who less than two weeks ago was undefeated and lost to these "Bad News Bears" just prior to the playoffs starting. This Championship game was going to be a fun filled ride and needless to say it was a back and fourth game. 4-0 and then 4-5 and then 5-7 and then 7-7 and then 7-9 and then 9-9. Finally after 6 innings of back and fourth "base stealing while scoring as the balls are flying everywhere while the parents are freaking out in the stands while some parents blame the umpires for their kids getting called out while other parents complain about the umpire being blind" baseball the final score was...... 11-10 and the winners were the Longfellow Cubs. The Belleville Tigers had played their hearts out and just could not muster up a last inning hit. Lady luck seemed to have sided with Longfellow.....even when the ball was caught by the right fielder who has not caught a ball all year long as we were told by one of the coaches after the game. He missed two fly balls earlier in the game and everyone thought it was gonna be a guaranteed hit when the ball popped out towards his direction again. I guess the kid finally learned to catch a ball and it couldn't have come at a better time for him. The Belleville Tigers players played their hearts out, they were energized the whole entire game, and they never quit. No matter what happened they never quit and kept playing. I tip my hat to the coaches, the players, and to the 5 tons of sunflowers seeds this team has ingested.

As for the Stockholders in Exxon/Mobil and Citgo......I apologize but your profits will drop for a little bit as my children have no summer sports and nothing till soccer in the fall.

Yesterday was the closing of another chapter in my life........helping with coaching my daughter and her softball team mates. Thanks to "Mother Nature" this past spring most of our games had to be rescheduled and since May 16th we have had a game almost every day or prolonged practices. This past weekend wrapped up our playoff system and despite the girls playing their little hearts we couldn't advance past round three. The tournament started on Friday night and we lost the first game but it was a double elimination so we still had a second life to play on Saturday. Well......wouldn't you know it.....it ended up raining on Saturday and everything was moved to Sunday and the time limits were shortened for the games (basically you got to play 3 innings). I will say one thing: little girls are not meant to play ballgames at 8am on Sunday mornings because that means being there at 7 am and let me tell you there are some cranky 7-12 yr olds at that hour. Unfortunately we fell victim to the time frame and lost that game due to it.

My schedule was at an all time high with work, ballgames, practices, chaperoning school trips, tending to the Future Mrs. Big Kahuna, tending to being called into work on my days off, and somehow managing to find a little time to get some sleep in between the craziness. Now I will finally have a chance to get caught back up with everything as my son will be finishing out his ball season on next Friday and then their playoffs begin that following Saturday.

BRIAN-PLAY AT THE PLATE: I received a package in the mail from you on monday and just got to it today. Thank you my friend for filling in my checklists. I will return the favor! BTW Your prize package was shipped out today! Sorry for it being a little late but we wanted to add a few more goodies before it shipped out. The lady at the post office asked how the box could be so heavy for the flat rate priority mail. She asked me if I had weights in it and I said, "No ma'am......just sportscards".

I had emailed a few bloggers requesting some addresses and I did not forget about you! The little surprise packages I have for you are going out the end of the week. I'm just playing catch up with everything and the kids were filling up the bubble mailers today.

BTW.....DID YOU GUYS UNDERSTAND WHY I ASKED IN THE LAST CONTEST I HAD: HOW MANY GAMES WILL IT TAKE TILL BRYCE HARPER GETS SUSPENDED? There is always a reason for the method of my madness. Well after having my full of violence from the news I decided to find something that I could watch without seeing someone stabbed, beaten, shot, or murdered and just started flipping through the channels and decided to watch a tennis match cause I was sick of seeing on the violence on the other TV channels and wanted to mellow out to a sport that I used to watch a lot. Then I almost fell head over heels for this tennis player when I saw her playing her heart out last night:

Her name is Caroline Wozniacki and she is the current No.1 player on the WTA tour. She can smack the tennis ball around like nobody's business. Despite being upset last night by Julia Goerges she can play very well. I'll be keeping an eye on her (not in a stalking kind of way-LOL).

With all the violence that has been in the news and sports world lately I wanted to leave you with an image that is not violent by any means. An image that will bring a sense of peace. An image that will say, "yes, it's been a rough week but by george, I am king of my own jungle."

I have a mega-lot of cards from football, baseball, basketball, and hockey and every card is serially numbered. There are all stars, rookies, veterans, players you've heard of, players you may have not heard of, some that were arrested, and some other various inserts are included and I think the pot has reached well over 100+ cards. Here's the fun part: Like always here at E.A. we are not telling you who is included in the contest. What we will tell you is there is some limited 537739 cards, a few 2886472747's, and a few other surprises to boot including a true 1/1. I think it's safe to say that our previous contest winners were happy with their prizes and we always strive to make the winners pleased!

Today on ESPN's "Sportsnation", it was announced that Cleveland Browns RB Peyton Hillis had 66% of the votes as Michael Vick had 34% of the votes in the "Race to Grace" for gracing their presence on the cover of EA's Madden 12 football video game. Not to be a "Debby Downer" but the last time a running back graced the cover of a Madden game was in 2007 and it was Shaun Alexander and we all know how his career turned out after his picture appeared on the boxes. Let's hope Peyton does not fall victim to the ever dreadful "Madden Curse".

So now you have to spend more money sending in for the crap-shoot auto you didn't get when they had the "EMAIL" system set up in place to cover this well botched quality control issue. How can such a delayed product like this one have this kind of a mess up? Kudos to Topps for stepping in quickly again to fix a "quality control" issue. However just because Topps has stepped up to quickly "correct" the situation does not mean they're going to fall back into the "good graces" of the hobby enthusiasts. It's also apparent that topps are giving you less product then advertised if you're a set builder. How many other times has this happened where they're selling something that does not match the advertised sell sheets? You're getting about 350 cards instead the advertised 450. FAIL! NOT WINNING!

My beautiful daughter and I decided to take a trip on Saturday to the "dreaded" local card shop as I needed some supplies for the card sets that I am working on and I had run out of penny sleeves and jersey card holders and the last time I was at Wal Mart they were out of those things. Off we go! We get inside the local hobby shop dungeon and all you see is stuff on the counters from 2010, 2009, and 2008: all TOPPS products. As I gaze upon the boxes of hobby products and I see some of the prices he has written on them with black sharpie I suddenly have the urge to lay on the floor in a fetal position and cry out to "make it stop" as he is not one to really bargain on anything and swears a loyal oath and a blue streak by the most "unholiest of foul wretched price guides"....BECKETT (high column mainly). However not all hope is lost in this hobby dungeon of lost cards souls as one of a few bright spots is that he does have good supplies such as sleeves, containers, dividers, etc at really good bargain basement prices. So as I am gathering the much needed supplies to take back to my village, the little kahuna has been looking over the TOPPS seeds and had spotted 4 boxes of Topps Chrome 2010 baseball. She grabs me by my arm and asks if she could get a box since she has not had any cards in a while and that she got a very good report card and because Daddy loves her. Well....I do love her but I really did not want to pay 65.00 a box for Chrome but she has earned it and when I went to pay for it I only ended up being charged 50.00 for it. I felt as if I had slayed the dragon and ran away with the golden egg! This man never hardly budges on his prices. Perhaps it was my daughter's charm or the fact that this guy really needs the business. I didn't ask and he didn't say.

So we came back home and Caty rushed into the house and immediately opened up her new-found box of joy and let me tell you something.....when your daughter comes to you with what she had in her hand....well I'll just let the picture do the talking:

There was a 4th autograph as well: Cole Gillespie regular rookie auto version. This was all from one box mind you! The Gonzalez 1/1, the Castro refractor rookie auto, and the Stubbs, English, and Gillespie autos were all in one box. She brings me these cards and asks if she pulled anything good. Needless to say I pooped my pants at what she pulled. This brings me to another issue: Topps quality control. Was it a hot box? Did some think of themselves as of an air traffic controller and feel asleep at the insert/press machine? The box does say, "2 auto's per box". I guess Christmas came a little early this year from Topps.

I would also have to say that the "little kahuna" has a hot hand in the "big pulls department" as of lately.

I'm still here. I've been very busy with a heavy workload and I'm also focusing on ball practice with the "Little Kahunas" so my posts will be far and few for the next few weeks. There has not been much in terms of sports cards that I have felt like busting lately but I have picked up a few packs of stuff here and there of 2010 baseball products. Nothing really major pulled as I'm just trying to fill in a few more sets that I'm working on. As for the kids, they wanted to bust open a few packs but didn't want to spend a lot of money. I figured since we were in Wal-Mart we might as well take that dreadful trip down the card isle and see what we can find. My daughter had chosen a pack of 2010 Bowman Draft picks and prospects and she was pleased with what she pulled although it's only highlight was one minor star rookie. As for my son he chose to purchase a pack of 2010 Bowman Platinum. He was all smiles and said, "Dad....these are all rookies cause they have that logo thingie." I looked at his cards and was shocked as he pulled a Stephen "broken tendons" Strasburg rookie card, a Buster "I've got a world series ring already and you don't" Posey rookie card, a Wade "let's go surfing" Davis rookie card and a Dustin Ackley prospect card. I think he blew the odds out of the water on that pack! He was all smiles and had every right to because the CARD GODS had blessed him with MOJO.....oh wait...I forgot we don't use that word anymore so here's the politically correct word: WINNING!

Some of the cards you may have seen here on my site will be for sale on Ebay seller id: hertz27. Some of you may have even done business with me in the past and I was also recognized as the guy who always charged $1.65 or less for shipping ($1.65 combined no matter how many cards you bought). I've always gone out of my way for the customer and my feedback details says it all (100%). I've done many international sales and I've only ever had one problem and the guy ripped me off big time even after I provided proof that he signed for the item and that the item was delivered. Seems like there's always a bad apple in a bunch! However I still do international sales for the most part. Oh I'll have more than just sports cards for sale as I'm looking to do some spring cleaning as well. Some items you may see are drum parts, cymbals, comics, ex-wife, computer games, and many more different types of things.

Times are tough and the economy is tough and my wallet is getting tighter and when you have kids you have to find ways to make sure all the ends are covered because we all know how "little things" like to pop/creep up on you. Yes I am plugging myself!

The magical touch....at WAL MART

I took a trip today up to the local WAL MART for some much needed supplies and toilet paper and I figured since I was there I would pay a little visit to the dreaded retail card isle. Let's just say I'm glad that I bought some TP!

I picked up a blaster box of 2010 Topps Chrome football (I'm working on completing the set), a blaster of Playoff Contenders 2010, and a pack of 2011 Topps baseball. Here's what I pulled:

I was very pleased with the Sam Bradford considering it was numbered 555/555. Lately I have pulled the chrome blue refractor jersey numbered Tim Tebow card along with 3 1/1's, 4 different player jersey numbered cards, and a total of 9 autographs in the last two years from my local Wal Mart. I was surprised at pulling the Kyle Williams autograph because that is a short print as far as I know. The Thurman Munson was sticking to the back of the Hellickson card a little so that was a nice surprise to see as well.

Overall I'm not too impressed with the Playoff Contenders cards. Seems like there's too much white on them and they were hap haphazardly designed . I still prefer to have the autograph on card and not a sticker autograph as seen on the Kyle W. card.

BRING BACK MUTANT LEAGUE FOOTBALL .....since the NFL is failing

Well now......it seems as if the 2011 NFL football season is in jeopardy. However with the season being denied to us fans that is not going to stop EA Sports from releasing Madden 2012 as anticipated. I wonder who will be on the cover this year? Perhaps that is what should be on the cover for Madden 2012:

Actually I think EA should be smart and bring back Mutant League Football with updated rosters and graphics. There's nothing more fun than shredding a quaterbacks to pieces and having the coach chew you out like this:

This game was the bomb! Nothing like having all kinds of crazy plays like "Hail Scary" or "Da Bomb" or the "Bash the Ref" audible and don't forget the "ball wired for death". How about some of the comments the players would make after sacking the QB to pieces or the "who killed who" notice:

The best part was you didn't have to worry about cash bonuses, selling tickets, setting up vendors, or some whiny millionaire BIOTCH complaining about his contract. All you had to do was sit down, load up the game, pick a team and begin eating QB's for breakfast. The only worry you had was making sure you had enough players left on your team so you didn't have to forfeit the game!

I just wish they would have done a Mutant League Baseball in addition to the Mutant League Football and Mutant League Hockey. The hockey version of this game was just as good as the Mutant League Football game and it provided you with all the gore that you needed.

I think it's time to run another contest here at "Enough Already". Perhaps a SPRING contest is in order because I am officially done with winter (so what if it snows again). I'm ready to get out on the fields and play some ball! I'm ready to make kids cry by calling them out/safe. I'm ready to PARTY! I'm ready to watch some millionaires strike out like crazy (cough cough Ryan Howard). However, the question that I have burning in the back of my mind is, "what shall I giveaway this time here on Enough Already?" Could it be tickets to a ball game perhaps? An autographed ball? An autographed bat? A proctology exam with aliens? An autographed card? A new Yugo? Dinner date with a cougar (guess what's for dinner!)? A complete set? Guess I'll have to mull it over for a bit perhaps. I'm full of surprises as some of you have found out already!

I'm about to hit 16,000 views which I never expected to have happen and I am thankful to all of you for taking time out of your schedule just to see what's happening here. Much love, appreciation, and thanks to you all!

I pulled this little ol' thing out of a box of 2010 Topps Supreme a few weeks ago on here. I was very surprised when I did see both auto's and I laughed when I saw that it was a 1/1 edition. Let us take a look at the names that are on the card:

Rob Gronkowski

In Jermaine's signature it's very easy to make out the "J" but as for the rest of the name it looks like a big "S" followed by a small "w".

In Rob's signature you can almost make out his full name. You can see how he makes the "K's" stand out in his last name. Good signature flow as well-very fluid! Still his last name looks a little garbled.

For these efforts I give it 3 sharpies!

Some of you may find that what I am about to share with you is very hard to believe but I assure you that it is all 100% true (scout's honor). It has come to pass that a part of my mind has vacated my body and while he has gained his own independence in terms of freedom and thoughts, he feels that it would be in his best own interests that he does not come back home to the brain where it's ultimately safe. Instead he has decided to start his own little blog and while I am totally against the concept of it I still do love him (hey....it's a part of me) and I've decided to support his habit for now until he realizes that he needs me and that he finally comes back home soon. The TOPPS Million Giveaway cards have arrived (the horror)

I knew that ordering these cards from the TOPPS's Million Card giveaway promotion was going to be a big risk. I did not expect to see mint cards by any means (it's topps-what would you expect) and I was really expecting to get cards that looked like they were in the spokes of my children's bikes. Truthfully I didn't know what to think considering some of the horror stories/pictures that I've seen on different blogs and how some of the cards that arrived shouldn't even be called cards because they looked so mangled up. Here's what the "butcher shop" sent me:

The 1955 Gene Conley card is in poor condition to say the least thanks to some horrible corners and off centering and a crease mark in the card. No way this card was in a vault. The 1957 Mike Fornieles is horribly off centered with wellllllllllllllllllllllllllll rounded corners.

1972 Ollie Brown is in fair condition. I'd say the 1968 Bill white has some better centering but once again the corners are killers!

MY MAIN MAN HOJO is horribly off centered. As for the 1972 Angel Mangual it's corners are bad.

The 1974 Willie Crawford has off centering issues. The 1976 Larry Dierker isn't too bad. once again rough corners.

The 1971 Danny Combs is in fair condition but rough on the corners. The 1967 Mayo Smith is off centered.

It was $10.00 for shipping everything out.

How Obtained:
I pulled this lovely autograph from a Bowman Platinum blaster box at the Huntingdon Wal-Mart.

Cost:
19.95 plus PA tax for the blaster box

Comments:
This is the first autographed card that I've really enjoyed pulling based on the layout of the card design. I love the fact that is was touched by the player to sign it since it's an on card autograph. The other reason I like this card is how the layout design was done as the autograph next to the player really stands out even with the white in the background. Of course the refractor background helps it to stick out as well.

Autograph Laziness:
I can't really make out the first name portion of his autograph as it looks like some kind of Hybrid "S". I'm not really sure how you get "Ian" out of that one? As for the last name portion of his autograph you can easily make out the "K" and the "L". The other letters are "missing in action" (somebody call Chuck Norris).

Jeff over at "I AM JOE COLLECTOR" had a contest last month for a 2010 Leaf R&S Daniel Orton team patches rookie auto and I was rather surprised to find out that I had won the card. I'm not usually very lucky with these kinds of things but somehow Lady Luck must have smiled on me that day. I've always been a fan of the Orlando Magic and some of the players I enjoyed watching over the years were Nick Anderson, Dennis Scott, Penny Hardaway and Shaq. Unfortunately Dwight Howard is about the only bright spot left on the team currently. Gilbert is too busy cleaning his guns.

My Topps Million Cards have shipped....Finally!

I had a total of 17 cards that I had "opened" on the Topps Million Cards giveaway site. 10 of those cards I felt were worthy enough to be purchased and I was rather quite surprised as I did manage to pull a few vintage cards and I just about had a heart attack when I pulled my favorite all time NY Mets rookie card of: HOJO (clap I say....Clap fool) ! As for the other 7 cards that I chose not to order I decided it was best to let Topps throw them back into the vault because they were mostly junk and I do mean junk (1990 topps, 1989 topps and 1995 topps). So Four score and seven years ago, after billing my credit card quite some time ago Topps deemed me worthy enough and decided to finally ship my order out. Hopefully these cards will not be in poor condition when they arrive as I've been hearing some awful horror stories lately.

Now that the 2010 NFL season has been completed I find myself already dealing with some minor "football withdraw" symptoms. The outlook for the 2011 season is up in the air as the owners and players try to come to terms of the business side of the game. So I've decided to give in to my football cravings and that I was going to create the "BEST DAMN MADDEN FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM that stunk in the NFL". Feds seize $1.5M in counterfeit sports gear in Pa.

Associated Press - February 4, 2011 6:35 PM ET

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Federal authorities in Pittsburgh have seized thousands of unlicensed Steelers and Penguins jerseys and other Super Bowl-related merchandise.

The crackdown is part of a nationwide effort by customs and homeland security agents to fight counterfeit goods.

Packages confiscated over the past three days at a DHL office near Pittsburgh yielded nearly $1.5 million in unlicensed Chinese-made gear, including 5,000 jerseys.

Scott Best, assistant special agent in charge of homeland security investigations in Pittsburgh, said Friday that fans should be suspicious of cheap merchandise.

DHL released a statement saying it is cooperating with law enforcement and does not knowingly transport counterfeit goods.

At the end of this day, one shall stand, one shall fall!

THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS:

I would have to say that pulling a $10.00 jersey card out of an $85.00 box left me with a really sour taste in my mouth. It's going to be a hit or miss chance every time you open a box and I knew this going into the situation. I did pull a double of the Emmanuel Sanders rookie card even thought it was a variation..... still out of a case of 8 boxes I should not pull a double of anything in my opinion.

Sticker auto's .......These cards would've been much better with "on card" auto's.

Only a few cards had a slight chipping issue on the back of the cards. All of the cards seemed to have four sharp corners and no border issues on the fronts. However if I'm paying that much for a box of cards I better not have chipping issues!

Alrighty....I admit I might be a pack junkie addict but at least I'm in total control of it. Well.... I was in control of my urges until I found out that I'm getting a nice tax return check courtesy of the IRS for this past year. So after paying off some bills and taking care of the "future Mrs. Kahuna", I have a little extra fundage to monkey around with and I have decided to let the inner beast come out (no..not that one Kathy ;-) my Fiance reads my blogs too ya know- Gotta make it SEXY...LOL!!!)

and purchase a few boxes to quench it's thurst for blo...eh I mean pack ripping. Obviously it's thrusting to take a shot at something like "The Cup" or "National Treasures" (Screw you Nick Cage) or perhaps maybe even a small case of something. I've also contemplated picking up one of the following rookie cards for my kids:

B: Wayne Gretzky Rookie
C: Lebron James Rookie
D: Hank Aaron Rookie
E: Nolan Ryan Rookie
F: Cal Ripken Rookie

For some reason I keep leaning to Cal Ripken or Henry Aaron. My son wants to shoot for more Even Meek stuff while my daughter wants more David Wright stuff.

I'm already getting a few tickets for the kids to go to some Pirates ball games and for some Altoona Curve ball games so we can add some new auto's to the children's growing autograph collection. Perhaps I could get them started on collecting autographed bats and balls again. Who knows what we'll do just yet?

So.....what do you think I should bust a box of in Baseball, Football, Hockey?

Or should I just invest my money in making custom made "game used jock strap piece cards"?

We all hate to see our son(s) and/or daughter(s) get sick and they always seem to give ya the biggest hugs and kisses when their sick. Well, I guess I could say so much for me avoiding the bug that has plagued my daughter since thursday evening. Now I too also find myself nursing an URI/cold and not really resting as well as I should be. I decided then it was time to visit with an old friend, "Mr. NyQuil". I took my prescribed dose (perhaps an extra tsp more+-) at 11am and i did not wake up til 10:38pm. I never heard the phone ring. I never heard the dogs crying to go out and pee. I never even got up for halfway through my mid sleep bathroom break. I was out cold! I know they rest is the best medicine but I felt like I could've gone right back into bed when I did get up. Unfortunately work calls and I must go! Hope you guys stay warm and healthy!

I was rather surprised to find in my mailbox today a subscription to Beckett Monthly magazine. I called the customer service department and asked how I could have a year long subscription when I did not order it at all. Now the Beckett customer service girl was very nice and pleasant to work with and had told me that it was paid via check on Dec. 13th as a gift. Now I had already checked my credit card statements and found that none of my cards were charged so I'm kind of left speechless at the moment as to how this has happened. I said to her are you sure it was applied to the right account because I have not ordered this magazine since 2006 and I did not send anything in at all. She said that it was a gift and that I would receive Beckett Monthly for a year. She took my phone number and she said she would look into it and if there was any kind of a mistake she would give me a call.
I can't figure out for the life of me who would send me a gift subscription like that because no one in my family did that nor do they even know that I read that magazine from time to time. And I know my fiance didn't do it because she has no idea of what the hobby even really means. So I'm left to assume someone from the blogging world must have been feeling very generous. So to Whomever did this fine deed I thank you for it and I am surprised and shocked by your generosity! Thank you, Thank You very much!

I came across a good story today on ESPN. Whether you're a NY Jets fan or not, you have to admit that Mark Sanchez has a heart and lacks an ego and lets us into a bit of his private life. I wish there was more athletes like Mark Sanchez! My thoughts and prayers go out to the Binkley family at the loss of their 11 yr old son Aidan. The Jets organization and Mark Sanchez made a child's dream last an eternity. Rest now in peace Aidan....for you are home in the Arms of the Angels.

We here at Enough Already are die hard NY GIANTS fans (with the exception of my son who likes the Eagles.......and I don't know why. At least my daughter partakes in here daddy's fav teams). We were truly saddened to watch a defense allow 21 unanswered points in less than 9 minutes. Then when it came to the punt at the end of the game why did he not kick it out of bounds? Especially with Desean Jackson Receiving! What was funny though was watching Giants coach Tom Coughlin chew out Matt Dodge on the field immediately after the kick. Hopefully he gave that same speech to the WHOLE DEFENSE who decided to go out for some tailgate food in the fourth quarter!

I also think if I hear another person mention that Michael Vick should be the league MVP I will show up at that person's house and puke on them. Michael Vick should not have even been left back into the league after what he's done. I may have a little respect for his skills as a football player but I have no respect for him otherwise. Anyone that's willing to shoot, electrocute, and do further harm to dogs should not be allowed the luxury of owning dogs ever again and should not be allowed back into sports. Yes I know he's paid his debt to society by serving jailtime. Michael Vick spent almost 2 years in jail after he confessed to charges in his involvement with dog fighting. Michael Vick's dogs that did not perform up to his expectations were killed by electrocution, hanging, drowning and other violent and horrific means by him. He’s another perfect example of the two tiered society that America is defined as.... The rich and famous and well connected have a different set of rules apparently in our society than the rest of us where the rules we are forced to live by don't really even give us second chances at times.

We banned Pete Rose from the HOF and baseball for gambling. Yet we let Mike Vick play. Am I missing something there?

Enough Already's "End of the Year Fools in Sports"

We the collective thought here at Enough Already decided to compile a list of what we felt is the top 15 "FOOLS" in 2010 who made a commotion in the sports world and in the hobby world. We will begin counting down in no particular order a character/company/item that made not only a fool of themselves but truly made us wonder, "what the hell were they thinking?"

#15: TIGER WOODS

I wonder just how many ladies got to see this disturbing facial expression. Looks like the guy in front of him is scared or just wanting to be next in line to pick up a check perhaps.

Tiger seemed to have it all.....a hot Swedish wife, quite a few major golf titles, and lots of endorsement deals that were very profitable for him. However, Tiger also had a lot of other "side projects" that consisted of hitting his balls into more holes than anyone could begin to imagine. His "magical golf course" consisted of hitting endless "holes" with no mulligans and no penalty strokes. Reportedly over 120 holes to boast! Then there was the SUV accident involving him and his wife. Then all of the "lady lions" started coming out of the jungle claiming to be tamed by this "big' ol Tiger".

Long story short: Hit his balls into one to many sand traps and was not given any mulligans and received a multiple penalty stroke!

Outcome: about $90 million lighter in his wallet thanks to the former "Mrs. Woods".

Highlights of foolishness: Was a "guest" on SOUTHPARK. Gatorade drop his endorsements. Gillette had suspended any advertising with him on their products. AT&T dropped him like a dropped call. Golf Digest canceled articles on him. He took the neighbor's 21 yr old daughter and showed her how to use his "1 wood" club. Then there was the bogus "no questions allowed while I read this prepared statement that was written for me by someone else" interview.

We hope that Tiger can turn things around for the better. Perhaps in 2011 he can regain his old form on the golf course and even turn his life around for the better and make better decisions. However he needs to focus on two things more than anything: His children and his Golf game. Let everything else go.

It has come to my attention from 2 "kindly worded" emails that I received that apparently they think my contest is a feeble attempt at humor and the prizes are a joke and that no one would be willing to give that much. Here's the funny part.....the joke's on them. This contest is a very serious contest. It's about giving to others who don't have. Instead of wasting $85.00 on a box of cards feeding your card habit why not take into consideration what $85.00 could get someone who is perhaps homeless or living in a shelter due to circumstances beyond their control. That lady in the shelter could have been a victim of abuse and has nowhere else to go. That family of four could've had a fire and lost everything. We don't know all of the stories but they're there for a reason. Some people need blood transfusions and blood supplies are low. Blood donors are badly needed. What about the mother and father of a family that lost their jobs and have not been able to find employment. There are children who will not be getting presents on Christmas Day due to things beyond their control. There are families who will go without a meal on Christmas Day. The point of the contest is to make the holiday good for someone who may not have it so good and to give some a little bit of comfort or happiness in a difficult time. I take this contest very serious and I'll tell you why in the short form. I'm going to expose a little bit of my soul:

On my 10th birthday my parents divorced and my Father chose to leave me out of his life. He paid hardly anything in child support and chose to leave at the worse of times. So I had lived with my mother who had Cancer at the time and I chose to help her since my Father wouldn't. My mother could not work a full time job due to her illness. I know what it's like seeing the opening up of Christmas gifts of others and yet knowing it was ok that my mother did not get me anything because she couldn't and I understood but yet she felt so horrible about it. Between Mom going back and forth for chemo treatments and holding my mother's head in my hands at time because she was puking so much I kind of never got to do most things kid did. I had to be an adult at a young age. My mother is a cancer survivor but she is also Diabetic. She has lost her right leg from the knee down due to infection and just recently had half of her right middle finger removed due to infection settling into the bone. This is another reason why I have listed as giving a donation to Cancer Research or Diabetes research.
I know what it's like to be at the bottom of the barrel. I know what it's like to have nothing. Am I angry? No. Am I sad? Yes. I'm sad because someone would think that giving to someone else would be a joke. Better yet here's my thought:

To Randy & Glenn P. who so kindly wrote me: I'd be willing to bet that you two gentlemen are pack searchers. I'd be willing to bet that you would probably take a 1987 Donruss Greg Maddux rookie and sell it on Craigslist for 100.00 gem mint status. I'd be willing to bet that you when you were kids you stole money from your Mom's purse. I'd also be willing to bet that you don't wash your hands after peeing or wiping.....EVER. I'd be willing to bet that you two are the kind of idiots who praise Beckett and shun EBAY values. I'd be willing to bet that once santa finds out your address you're gonna get more than lumps of coal.

So yes the contest is very real and it is true to my heart.

Topps Prime is the Old Stadium Club

Seems as if Topps made Stadium Club a little bit better with the release of "Prime". It Doesn't matter that "Prime" is almost the same photography shots of Stadium Club lore past and present with the action bleeding through the card. Obviously Topps did not get the memo about "sticker auto's" as this product is LOADED with them. It seems that the art of "on card auto" at Topps is non-existive anymore. The odds of you pulling that star rookie autograph of "Ben Dover" makes his return in this product. If and when you decide to purchase this product you get 10 packs per box and 4 serially numbered and or autographs per box with a price of $10.00 a pack. The inserts in this series just plain look blah with the 1,2,3,4 quarters jersey combo's. The only positive highlight of all the inserts is the Red Zone rookie autographs.

Joe Paterno is coming back ......again!

There is much love and respect for what you did Joe......now it's time to walk away while it's good and enjoy RETIREMENT. Let other kids play Joe!

This past year my "sports card habits" have truly taken a back seat. Oh sure I picked up a few blaster boxes here and there but I have not spent nowhere near the amount of money I used to spend. Even at my local card shop- all he carries is Topps and I'm not impressed with what he has to offer. With what he carries in terms of products I can find it a lot cheaper by almost 20-30.00 at blowout cards with shipping! I'm even less impressed when he whips out the "Holy Beckett Bible" and looks at the high prices 97.8% of the time for any single cards that I pick out that I want or need. Then when it comes to commons he has to go by the "Beckett Bible" on that as well. I usually walk out at that point empty handed hoping he would catch on to the point of "no one goes by that anymore if you really wanna make a sale" but it seems I would have a better time getting felt up by TSA employees than any hopes of him dropping the whole "Beckett" is the gospel approach. Then he gripes as to why he hardly has any business.....GEE I WONDER.

There is one thing that really bothers me a liitle and that is UPPER DECK. A few weeks ago I took part in a 2010 UD Sweet Spot box break over at First and Goal and I was rather surprised at what I had pulled (actually what Dave pulled for me):

I know UD was (in trouble with the NFL: Read it here) making this a college themed set and by most standards I think they did an okay job. However the one thing I was not impressed by was the fact that the LeSean McCoy jersey swatch is green in color. That's funny considering Pitt's colors are blue and gold. So I posted a message on UD's facebook page asking as to why the color difference and I promptly received a reply of :

Upper Deck commented on their wall post.

Upper Deck wrote: "We can use NFL jerseys, just not images of team logos. This was a Eagles jersey."

On the back of the jersey card it states that this jersey was from a rookie photo shoot.

Hmmmm......on the front of the hobby box it states: 2010 NCAA football
???
I think it would be nice to actually use the college jersey swatch pieces in a product that is advertised as NCAA FOOTBALL and not use an NFL jersey swatch in a supposed NCAA product. Even my 9 yr old son looked at me confused and asked, "if it's a college card then why do they have a pro jersey on the card Dad?" Is it me or am I missing something?

This past Sunday was very interesting for the NFL. Here are the thoughts:

People are chanting, "The Raiders are back, the Raiders are back"!

Yes, the Raiders did play another good game. Yes, they have a 3 game winning streak which is their best since at least the 2002 season. Yes, Darren Mcfadden is proving that when he's healthy and not making kids or videos or fighting at night clubs that he can produce. Yes, Jason Campbell had another nice passing game with help from Jacoby Ford and McFadden. NO this does not constitute them "being back". Wait until week 14 and then if they make the playoffs then belt the tune out. And just because an offensive lineman scores does not mean they'll make the playoffs.

Did anyone notice that the Cleveland Browns has defeated the New Orleans Saints and now the New England Patriots? They beat the Saints on the road and they beat the Patriots at home this week. It was the Peyton Hillis show again that contributed. Colt McCoy had another start with success. Could this be a new formula?

Did anyone notice that the Houston Texans have now fallen to 4-4 after such a hot start?

Chicken Scratch: Jordan Shipley Edition

Welcome to another addition of "Chicken Scratch". This week's subject is non other than Cincinnati Bengals rookie Wide Receiver Jordan Shipley. In Jordan's last NFL game against the Falcons, he had 6 receptions for 131 yards which included a beautiful 64 yd TD reception.
His bold signature is almost legible. His "J's" and "S's" are pretty easy to recognize and he does make an effort to sign his last name where as some athletes just write a straight line instead. When you look at his first name you might assume it was "Jim or "Ji" or even "JD". When you look at his last name .......um yeah.......the only thing that I can come up with is "sis". Still his signature is still a far cry better than Chris Johnson's or Amobi Okoye's autograph. For this lovely piece of artwork I give it: 3 sharpies!

The MOJO Fairy has brought me a Tim Tebow EBAY Special

It would appear that the "MOJO FAIRY" has paid a trip to WalMart. The children and I headed up to Wally world to grab a few things and in the checkout isle was one box of 2010 Topps Chrome. I figured....."what the heck...why not!" I really liked what I pulled so far until the very last pack in the box. The last card was a very nice and shiny blue refractor card of one Denver Bronco Tim "monk" Tebow. It was serially numbered (oh wait......I gotta pee from all of the anticipation.......ok....oh wait the dogs have to pee now........ok.... oh wait the kids have to pee......OK...it was serially numbered 15 / 199. OH MY...15 is his jersey number! It's an EBAY 1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1 to the six power special! It's probably worth an estimated shabillion turkish franks or 50000000000000000 grams of beer. Or maybe it might be worth two hot dogs and beer with some sauerkraut!

Yes it's a nice pull. The rest of the box panned out rather quite well and it was loaded and I do mean loaded with rookies.

Sunday was a another fun filled day with my better half and her family as we traveled down to the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Shortly before we arrived at the Aquarium we were stopped by a few police who was stopping all traffic at the redlight because Police bikes were taking either the Ravens or Broncos football team to the Stadium. I thought that was pretty neat to see. However then it donned on me that I could be in trouble. I was proudly wearing my NY GIANTS t-shirt and going into a sea of purple not realizing sunday was a home game for the Ravens. The funny thing is no one said one word to me and perhaps maybe it was due to my size (everyone says I look like I could rip cars apart easily) or else they felt sorry for me and didn't want to express anything for fear I may rip them a new hole. I'm not sure but maybe it was out of respect or something. Although a part of me did feel like taking a dump on the cement plaque that celebrates the Ravens 2000 super bowl victory. However in the midst of all of the white and purple that was everywhere I did manage to meet a few other NY Giants fans later in the day and it was nice to exchange pleasantries and stories with the locals. As for the trip....The aquarium totally rocked! I will be bringing my children down for them to see and share in the awesomeness of the Aquarium! I also need to take them to the Science center as well. The only thing that I did find rather amusing a little was the unexpected cannon going off on the USS Constellation. I suddenly felt like shopping for a new pair of underwear because it felt like I shit my pants when the cannon on the ship went off UNANNOUNCED and we were close by it! I will have alot of good memories from this trip and I promise I will be returning to Baltimore soon with my children!

Well it's nice to be back into the world of things. I had taken some well earned and deserved time off from work and the novel I am working on and went on vacation with the family and it was great to just gel at the beach and take in "Bike Week" at Ocean City among other things. I really had to let the batteries recharge so to speak cause everything was catching up with me and it was effecting me on more levels then I care to have it do.

The sports world has been buzzing with so many changes and now Brett Favre is back in the spotlight again for 2 reasons:

1. Randy Moss has been traded back to the Vikings.
2. Brett Favre was caught leaving dirty voicemail messages.

Only time will tell if the "Moss Marriage" to the Vikings will end up on Judge Judy's Divorce Court or an assistant's video tape perhaps before the end of the season. Just maybe Randy might finally hang it up at the end of the season for all we know! As for the Brett Favre audio messages.....God I hope the media does not turn this into "The Mel Gibson 3 Ring Circus Tapes".

Stephen Strasburg has finally broken!

Like I have said since the beginning of the season, this kid is the next Mark Prior. So who's at fault? Did the Nationals push him up through too fast? Was it all of the hype laying tons of pressure on him? Was Stephen unable to handle the pressure and finally break his body in trying to live up to the hype? Well he has finally broken down and now has to get Tommy John surgery and will be out the 2011 season possibly. I bet TOPPS is sweating and crapping in their pants now. But now that I think about it...it makes perfect sense in a way. Stephen is now a broken over-hyped product much like how TOPPS is kind of right now and Stephen has been slapped on TONS AND TONS of TOPPS PRODUCTS. Yeah.....I wonder how many people are kicking themselves right now. I wonder how many have already begun placing their Strasburg cards with the Mark Prior, Brien Taylor, and Todd Van Popple files? How are them prices on EBAY? Did I just hear a loud clunk? I wonder how long it will be till TOPPS starts removing his image from their products? I wonder how long it will be till TOPPS lowers the price to get his auto? I wonder how many people are slapping themselves with a 2x4 for paying what they did for his card prices? Yes I feel sorry for the guy and it sucks that he has to have surgery but there is a lesson to learned from all of this as well: Patience is truly a good thing. Perhaps now some people will learn of it.

I have been making full use of my XBOX 360 as of late. I recently had completed "Just Cause 2" which is an awesome and fun game to play IMO. I absolutely love having the freedom to do whatever and whenever and shoot whomever I want to in a game. I just recently started playing "Red Dead Redemption" and I'm really enjoying this game so far. I love western themed movies and western themed games and I love how the game has stayed true to it's western roots by doing such acts as shooting the animals and skinning them to sell for cash/supplies. You perform such acts as lassoing a wild horse and then trying to tame it/break him. Heck you even have to learn about controlling the speed of your own horse during missions or else he'll buck you off his back. There's poker, whores, rattlesnakes, wolves, dust bunnies, tumbleweeds, snake oil, and even cattle!

My son found out the hard way on "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" that Daddy will get a tactical nuke after 25 kills on the deathmatch/free for all levels. Yes I know....A Dad devastating his son's ego but yet teaching him to be competitive in the long run....so to speak. Sorry but we can't play online out here in Amish Wonderland. We don't have broadband access and my only internet connections are at work and my data phone. However we manage to do just fine without it and we seem to both enjoy working together and playing against one another. He has still yet to beat me in Halo 3, Left for Dead 2, and Smackdown vs Raw 2010.

BTW...it seems that a lot of people have been complaining about how their XBOX 360 has died or has had the 3 RROD or some other godly death issue. I happen to have the 20GB system and I have not had any problems with it at all and it works great! I have both the PS3 and the XBOX360 and both are good systems IMO.

Violence in the workplace seems to be on the raise again. Perhaps I should take a different approach for when I get fired from work. I'll be nice and give AchMed Bullubihabla and Haven Benfocked their tactical nuclear bomb back that I bought off of them and was planning to use on my exit. Instead I think I'll just eat 8 cans of baked beans along with a gallon of milk and some fresh brussel sprouts and then I will light a match. My mushroom gas cloud will be visible from the moons of Saturn. My gas will make the paint peel off of cars and boats and will instantly vaporize cockroaches. Even Bin Laden would go, "Holy Shit I'm outta here! I've never seen terrorist gas so bad!"
Somehow I would still manage to find a way to blame the gas on the dog. I always do!

Today I am officially retiring from purchasing anything that bears the name "TOPPS" on it for the upcoming football season and the remainder of the 2010 baseball season. After seeing the loads of crap today that came pouring out of a case of 2010 Allen & Ginter Baseball and by "crap" I mean poorly cut cards, not getting your "Guaranteed Hit/jersey/auto/someone's swim trunks cards", Coalition issues out the ying yang, and packs of cards missing the proper amount of cards (watched three boxes freshly opened from a case to see 14 packs of cards short 2 cards in the packs to make them full packs). Topps obviously has some serious quality control issues and until things improve I'd rather spend my spare change on toilet paper and tissues then to buy another pack of crap. I felt so bad for my friend Troy after seeing him pull 6 Brian Roberts Game used bat cards, 4 Jay Bruce jersey cards, 3 Matt Kemp jersey cards, 3 Darren Taylor Swim suit relic cards, 2 Adam Dunn game bat cards, 2 Rich Hill auto's, a Cameron Maybin auto, a Ricky Nolasco auto, a Ross Ohlendorf auto, and the BIG PULL: an Avery Jenkins auto. NO MAJOR CASE HITS AT ALL. He took pictures of everything as it was being opened so I hope he'll post it on the web soon. He said he was going to send it to Topps customer service as well. I'm glad it wasn't my money spent! His only bright spot was pulling a David Wright mini limited to 50 for which I may have to kill him for.....I mean trade with him for it!

Oh my goodness, where to begin oh where to begin. I kind of let this blog go for a little while because work had me running everywhere and the umpiring little league games gig is now officially finished for the season. I think next year I will take a break from it and look at some other options. I love being an umpire and while it does make life interesting, it also sucks calling my son out at times especially when he makes a big mistake and then just stands there and looks pissed at me for calling him out. But usually by the end of the inning he's asking me what I thought of the plays he made.........sigh. Nothing like going from the good guy to the bad guy back to the dad and then to the bad guy when things don't go his way. My son loves me and that's all that matters.....but the boy was OUT! LOL!

I have kept tabs on a few things that have been happening in the hobby and it seems like Beckett is receiving the ol' loaded boxes again. Pretty sad to see that happening and yet nothing is being done about it. Topps has to fall and fall hard! Gellman had a great article that kind of sums it up! Rob over at Voice of the Collector touches on the subject as well.

Hey did you know that in the 2010 factory sets of Topps Baseball it includes Stephen Strasburg? I saw that in the State College Target store yesterday. Ya know it's funny.....he went on the DL already. Can anybody say, "MARK PRIOR"? And speaking of BIG NAMES falling fast.....anybody hear from Joba Chamberlain lately? And don't even get me started on all of the trades that have been happening in the past 24 hrs. My goodness you need a road map. Kerry Wood and Lance Berkman as YANKEES? UGGGGHHHHH!!! DeWitt went to the Cubs. Chris Snyder went to Pittsburgh. Rick Ankiel went to the Royals. Matt Capps went to the twins. Heck the Baltimore Orioles hired Buck Showalter as a manager.......NO ONE IS SAFE!!! And of course let's not forget Roy Oswalt going to the Phillies. I enjoy selling something on EBAY. I enjoy selling sportscards on EBAY. I like taking the time to do everything just right for the customer and clearly stating the requirements in the item description so their is no confusion on the buyers end. By the way.... DOES ANYONE READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTIONS ANYMORE? Then when it comes time for the payment to be due you send out notices and email the winners so they can have the invoice right away. What's that??? I have not heard back from you in 5 days so I'll send out another casual reminder. What's that??? It's been 14 days? Finally after filing a NPB you all of a sudden have contact from the buyer and then you begin having to hear all of the excuses as to why they forgot to pay. Here are some quotes that I received lately:

"Very sorry about that. Payment in full will be received by Friday if that is ok. Had an unexpected auto repair that has drained the wallet. I will not welch on this - I have over 1000 feedback (100%) so I can be trusted." THE GUY NEVER PAID!!!

My favorite part is when you ship the product out and then 3 weeks later you get a claim of the item was not delivered. Here's where I like to stick it to the buyer so I don't get screwed over: I don't charge for delivery confirmation or signature required nor do I describe it in the auction listing. Then when I have the proof that it was delivered and signed for I just simply hand it in to Paypal and I email the buyer the confirmation information and then watch all of the excuses come pouring out again as to how they misplaced it or the signifigant other picked up the card or some other bullcrap excuse of trying to cover their ass cause they were going to rip me off. Then after all the dust has finally settled and another few days has passed I begin to fill out the feedback forms. I do not leave feedback unless it's left for me as I see that's only fair. The feedback the seller left for after attemtping to rip me off left was simply this statement, "thanks".

This is where EBAY needs to allow the sellers the opportunity to leave negative feedback for when the buyers pull this crap. But then again EBAY doesn't care about me, you, the BP oil spill, the gum on your shoe, the dead bird on the front of your car's grill, or how your Mom is making extra money on the side teaching a pole dancing class in your Dad's garage while soliciting Amish men. The fact is once EBAY has "their" money .....YOU ARE A PILE OF STEAMY, SQUISHY, "CORN VISIBLE IN THE PILE" OF SHIT TO THEM OTHERWISE. Prove me wrong!

The "Dad Moms"

Sometimes us "Dads" can have moments where we have more than our hands full if our wife or girlfriend is working opposite schedules of us and then we find ourselves being the "Mom" for the daylight or evening hours. It’s even more fun to have our hands extra full when we have two or more children to comfort, shuttle to games, giving hugs to, applying band aids, making supper for, planning evening activities, bath time, reading bedtime stories, drinks of water, cleaning up and making sure everything is in order so Mom doesn’t have to clean up when she comes home. So to help us "Dads" out a little and perhaps understand what the ladies in our lives go through everyday, here’s an "ABC’S" of the daily Dadmom:

A is for Allocate. You wash the dishes while having Ben dry them while Jen puts them away. This is not just a chore, but it’s fun as well because the children will usually end up being more wet than what the dishes were coming out of the dishpan.

B is for band-aids. You will need these at all times. These make little fears disappear. Like kisses these will also make tears stop instantly. These will also be necessary for when even Bobo, the pet goldfish has mysteriously crawled out of the fish tank and had bitten your three-year-old daughter’s finger (according to her testimony. The fish is unavailable for a comment).

C is for ABC Checklist. Unless it has sports scores on it or how to make something more powerful, most of us men will forget the "what to do lists or ABC checklist". This is very vital that we keep this list in sight at all times. Uncompleted lists can result in no kisses from the wife! Throw the penalty flag for husband/male like conduct!

D is for diapers. Don’t forget to change them or you may regret it later.

E is for excessive. Don’t just stop at cleaning the house. Clean the garage and take out the trash as well.

F is for forgiveness. They (the children) really don’t mean to write over your freshly painted wall. They don’t mean to stuff the bologna sandwich you made them 2 days ago into the VCR deck. They don’t mean to have your computer talking to you and writing in three different languages other than English.

G is for Grill. When all else fails in the kitchen, this amazing structure will bring hungry tummies calling. Men are born with an extra chromosome known as the 25th G chromosome. Men can prepare anything on the grill including Chili. No other directions are necessary at this point.

H is for hats. Collect all of these up after your children have tried on each one making for some quite memorable pictures.

I is for Ice cream. This substance (like the band aids) will solve any problem.

J is for Jesus. Make sure you teach the children about what he has done for us.

K is for Kool Aid. Due to the high sugar content, avoid giving this drink mix to children after 7pm. Side effects are hypersensitivity and excessive bouncing on beds and off of the walls and staying up until Mommy gets home which can produce serious "no kisses" overtones.

L is for Love. You can never give enough of this!

M is for mixing. Any vegetable can be mixed with mashed potatoes (see son or daughter for details).

N is for nurse. You will have to tend to broken planes and scraped knees. You may also have to nurse Bobo the pet goldfish back to health after being sucked up into the sweeper because you casually mentioned to your 3-year-old son that you needed to "clean the fish tank".

O is for off. Make sure the TV is in the off position at all times.

P is for paint. Let the children paint pictures for on the fridge and for in your office. There really is such things as a "green sun". And don't worry about the golden retriever you used to have....nothing says, "different" like a purple retriever.

Q is for quiet. Quiet time is for us after the children are asleep. This does mean an option to turn on ESPN and quietly read the ticker scores with the volume turned down.

R is for reading. Make sure you read the children two bedtime stories. Make sure you read over the checklist. Make sure you read your Bible.

S is soap. This will be required for making bubble baths that flow out of the tub and down the steps.

T is for Tantrums. It can be frustrating and there may be name-calling. Objects may be thrown. However, we men must still read the instructions booklet for putting some things together and read the checklists no matter how much intuition us men have. These tantrums must be avoided. Check on the kids for assistance.

U is for Upright. All of the books that were taken off of the shelves will need to be put back in the upright position. This includes the fish tank as well.

V is for VCR. Check the VCR for sandwiches, toys, backward tapes, fish and various vegetables that are easily placed in the cassette slot by "little hands".

W is for wife. Make sure there’s a meal prepared for her. Roses (or flower mixture) in a vase on the table. Make sure the house is cleaned. Make sure she’s got chocolate cheesecake in the fringe (extra kisses for you!). Make sure you pray for her!

X is for … the missing chromosome in us men that was replaced by the 25th G chromosome (see G above).

Y is for Yard. Make sure the toys are picked up and put away. Make sure the yard doesn’t have any hazards in case of cutting the grass. Half a G.I. Joe is not good to play with. The other half that was projectiled through your neighbor’s window via courteously of your lawnmower is not a good thing either.

Z is for ZZZZ. That’s what your wife will probably hear from you when she walks in the door.

In 1949, Kiner topped his 1947 total with 54 home runs, falling just two short of Hack Wilson's National League record. It was the highest total in the major leagues from 1939 to 1960, and the highest National League total from 1931 to 1997. It made Kiner the first National League player with two fifty-plus seasons. Kiner also matched his peak of 127 RBIs. From 1947 to 1951, Kiner topped 40 home runs and 100 RBIs each season. His string of seasons leading the league in home runs reached seven in 1952, when he hit 37. This was also the last of a record six consecutive seasons in which he led Major League Baseball in home runs, all under the guidance of manager Billy Meyer and Pirate great Honus Wagner. Sacrifices

Sacrifice. It has many meanings and many purposes. One could say that from a religious point of view that it’s a killing of a victim on an altar. In another sense of terms it means destruction or surrender of something for the sake of something else. Another meaning is something given up or lost as for example the sacrifices made by parents. In baseball a sacrifice fly is a batted ball that satisfies four criteria:

* There are fewer than two outs when the ball is hit.
* The ball is hit to the outfield.
* The batter is out because an outfielder or an infielder running in the outfield catches the ball (or would have been out if not for an error).
* A runner who is already on base scores on the play.

It is called a "sacrifice" fly because the batter presumably intends to cause a teammate to score a run, while sacrificing their own ability to do so. Eddie Murray (128), Cal Ripken Jr (127), Robin Yount (123), Hank Aaron (121), and Frank Thomas (121) are the current leaders for most sacrifice flies of all time.

But the kind of sacrifices I’m referring to are one the ones being made every day. White collar and blue collar folks are all making sacrifices on daily basis for their families. A family of four where the husband was a successful business man and now has been unemployed for the last two years because of a failing economy and so the Business he worked for had to “downsize” and as a result he was let go by the business. No severance package and no benefits are given to him for all his hard work and years of dedicated service to the business. Everyday he’s filling out numerous applications and yet no return phone calls or only short interviews that leave him with the dreaded words spoken, “we’ll be in touch”.
What about the hundreds of military servicemen and servicewomen who have paid with their lives to establish freedom and justice in Iraq or other foreign countries? Many have sacrificed their lives so others could have freedom.

What about the police in our country who everyday is fighting a never ending war on crime and drugs?

What about the single mother that holds down two jobs so both of her children can have the things that they need for school and in life in general such as food on the table and clothes on their backs and shoes on their feet? The mother lets go of her own desires and makes sure that her children needs are always met before her own needs and desires are met.

When it comes to sports cards or your sports collection could you make the sacrifice if you needed to? Could you give up something you owned and collected for years so it could help to meet the needs of others or the needs of your own family? In order to meet the needs of my copay for Highmark Blue Cross I ended up having to sell my autographed Adam Lind collection (which Marie from A Cardboard Problem knows and saw the guy who bought my cards-talk about a small world) and a few other things I’ve collected over the years from my personal collection. I did not have a $1,000.00 in banking to meet our deductible and with two kids that kind of leaves me with limited funds 99.9% of the time so I began liquidating my sports card collection and we ended up selling our PS3 that we got for Christmas. It was a gift from my Aunt Pam to me (she said I should have some fun with toys too) and I hated to sell it and it didn’t help seeing my son crying about it but I explained to him it was something that I had to do in order to meet the finances. He cried for a little while but told me it was okay and that he understood. Later that night he was still upset though and it burned a hole in me to have to do it but I had no other choice. The way I see it…. If it’s going to let me pay the copay and give me some extra money to get them both some well needed new shorts and pants for my growing son and growing daughter (they’re both having growth spurts at the same time……argggghh) and a few pairs of shoes for them both then so be it. It’s not easy and it is difficult at times but we get by and I see to it that they have what they need. I’m still hoping to perhaps somehow over the next couple of months find a way to get another PS3 to replace the one we sold as we all miss it dearly. However that just depends upon what’s left after getting our envoy 4 new tires that are badly needed. Just can’t win sometimes.

Chicken Scratch David Freese or "Dil Fssssn"

David Freese has a legible signature for the most part. The "D" and "F" are clear and large and recognizable. However it almost looks like his first name is "Dil". I can see those conversations and boy that has a nice ring to it: Hey Dil, nice game Dil, what a home run Dil, way to steal Dil, or What the Dil-Li-O kind of catch was that! As for the second part of his name it looks like, "Fssssn". Heck of a name for ya.....who's pitching- Dil Fssssn! However despite these little things his name is very presentable and can be made out for the most part. David receives 3 sharpies for his efforts.

Wow.... things have been a little crazy around these parts as of lately. I have barely had time to wipe my butt before my kids are pushing me out of the bathroom because they need to get ready to go somewhere. Between Umpiring ball games, being a Dad, being a fiance, being a co worker, being a counselor, being a Dad, shuttling kids somewhere, running kids somewhere, attending my sons games, attending my daughters games, working a heavy load, and then somehow manage to not fall asleep on the lovely lady whom I share my bed with so we can have a little "us" time to talk and "things". Damn.....I forgot sleep in this whole equation. This blog has been lacking due to all the other parts of my life. Work will be settling down soon so I will be able to resume some normal posts again soon.
