Be safe and enjoy the New Year - Drive sober!

We the collective minds at "ENOUGH ALREADY" would like to take a moment and wish you all a "HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your families!" We would also like to give you a very heartfelt reminder that if you are going to be drinking while celebrating the new year, please make sure you either turn your keys in to someone or please have a SOBER designated driver. In the business that I am in I have seen the damages that are done on both sides of the families due to the results of drunk driving accidents and incidents. If you don't have a driver then check your local ads for driver services or check on here: National Directory of Designated Driver Services.

Your blog just wouldn't be the same without you and not only that but you won't have a chance at winning one of our prize pack giveaways somewhere down the road! BE SMART! BE SAFE! Best of all to you in 2014 (the year topps finally _______)!

CHEATERS EVERYWHERE....(not just AFRAUD)!

If you have not heard of Bill Mastro allow me to tell you who this man is. He is the man known as the most disgraced sports memorabilia kingpin in America. Bill had bought a Honus Wagner T206 rookie card for $25,000 back in 1985 and sold it to Jim Copeland for $110,000 in 1987. He denied for over 20 years that he "trimmed the card" to make it appear in better condition. Well today in US court Bill Mastro had pleaded guilty to fraud (amongst other things) and admitted in court that he had trimmed the Wagner card to sharply increase its value. He even boasted about it to his co workers that he cut the card purposely just to increase its value.

So how would you feel about paying $2.8 million for a baseball card that's been altered from its originality? You could ask Arizona Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick as he was the last man to purchase it and is the current owner of the card.

Week 4 NFL Score prediction updates

Ok so my picks are updated from this past NFL weekend and I was close on most of the score outcome predictions. I was 10-5 for the week. Do you think you can do any better? Perhaps I should put up a contest for that!

P.S. I finally spent some time relaxing today and was playing Saints Row 4. Very interesting!

So we decided to open a box of 2000 sp authentic football today.

Back in 2000 I had purchased a case of 2000 SP Authentic football after coming into a little extra cash and I thought this case was going to be so much better than what Topps had to offer at the time. I opened the whole case except for one box that I decided to save for a later time in life hoping there would be no redemptions in it but a perhaps a gem or a rookie that exploded into something great. Well today was the day that I opened that very box after curiosity was getting the better of me and after dusting off the six inches of dust on it I will share with you what I found or should I say what was waiting for me........

you may now crap your pants over the guy on the far left!

The Big Kahuna picks his week 4 NFL WINNERS.....and perhaps his nose as well!

I believe there was a tragedy this week in the NFL. I do believe the New York GIANTS football team was purposely derailed to some swamp in order to entertain some country folks by playing FOOSEBALL with Momma and sipping tea and playing on the banjo because THEY DID NOT OBVIOUSLY SHOW UP TO PLAY THE PANTHERS. 38-0 was the final score.

Eli Manning returned to his old form and enlightened us with this lovely kind of a performance:

The GIANTS OFFENSIVE LINE had this kind of a performance:

Brandon Jacobs had this kind of performance after he kept running his mouth all week:

This week they take on the Kansas City Chiefs who just happen to be 3-0 and seem to be playing realistically 10x better than the Giants right now. I look for the Chiefs to manhandle the Giants at Arrowhead Stadium.

Here are my picks for week 4 of da NFL:

THANK YOU USPS for the glorious MESS YOU LEFT ME

9/22/13 UPDATE: The guy finally received his package and closed the case. I went ahead and refunded him his shipping costs since the USPS screwed it up. He hasn't replied back since I did that. I'm just glad he got it.

So......I had some auctions end on EBAY on Sunday Sept 8th. I received 90% of the payments within 24 hrs. I always give one business day for shipping and handling time as that's all I need as everything is prepped ahead of time. So I shipped everything out from the Allensville Post Office on Tuesday Sept 10th. I had to go away for a few days and was leaving on Thursday Sept 12th and was going to be out of state for a week. On wed Sept 11th I received a notice in my mail that most of the packages I had sent out were returned for not enough postage. The Mill Creek post office is only open now from 9:30 to 1:30 due to the morons not being able to handle a budget and it's normally around 2:30 when I get my mail so I knew I was screwed for getting anything taken care of immediately. So I contacted my postal carrier whom I'm friends with and left him a check for the Postmaster to cover the cost of additional postage as he is familiar with my Ebay business. Everything was handled just fine on his end and Irene Miller the Postmaster called me to let me know the difference and to also let me know just how much the lady at the Allensville post office screwed up my whole order. So now everything was being reshipped on the 12th. Most of the people are now getting their packages but I have one guy who has already filed a complaint of not receiving his card.

Here's what just happened:
cardinal*nation*cardboard let us know that they haven't received "2012 Bowman Joe Kelly Orange prospect auto card# BPA-JK serially #155/250 HOT!!!" and has requested a shipping status update. A case is open and you can view the case and the buyer's message in the eBay Resolution Center.

Ebay has already taken back the money he's paid.

I had people leave me poor shipping times in the star ratings which for years I had all 5's and my shipping time has been slated down to a 4.6 WHICH I HAVE A RECORD FOR MY FAST SHIPPING TIMES. So far no negs have been left but it just rubs me the wrong way even more because when they reshipped my envelopes Irine never left me the tracking numbers for the insured stuff  that was resent and I have no way of posting/checking up on the statuses. She sent the stuff out and didn't bother to save the tracking info which I needed. So I got pissed off ebay customers who have not received their products due to the lack of improperly trained Postal workers. The only one who did anything right was my mail carrier Buck. All Irene said was, "Sorry, I didn't know you wanted that stuff also." She thinks she may have it still somewhere but no guarantees.

FUJI you should have yours anytime!

Not all has been bad though. There is hope! I did have one guy from Oregon inquire yesterday because he didn't receive anything yet and then I got this yesterday afternoon:

Dear hertz27,

Hey my friend,

No worries. It showed up in todays mail. Thank you for your response and looking into it. Hope you have a good day. Thanks again.

If there was another decent postal service I would use it!

Yes I am shaming myself.....but for a good reason.

Hi Folks. I am about to do a shameful plug of what I am selling on ebay.http://myworld.ebay.com/hertz27

I'm selling some of my cards and other various items because those things called, "surprises in life" always love to pop up when you are low on funds and it's two weeks before the next payday and I am already working extra hours to cover ends meet as it is. When you have to spend over $700.00 for parts with money you don't have to pay for your only mode of transportation and I have to have a vehicle for work I have no choice but to start parting with my collection because it's what I have to do in order to take care of me and the kiddos.

Take a look at what I have listed so far. Maybe you'll find something or maybe not. I'm hoping to get a list up of prospect auto's that well be bargins listed on here in the next day or two. More to come folks!

it's game time!

The Big Kahuna vs Topps via the Better Business Bureau....PART 2

Well....Topps seems to have to move pretty fast on this issue. Five days after receiving a reply back from the BBB and Topps with their answer to the BBB I had received a package on my Birthday (July 26- how convenient) from the Topps company in good ol Duryea, PA.

Let us call this Exhibit A:

We've all received these "thoughtful and heartfelt" replacement letters when Topps fails to acquire the signatures of the athletes they are to have in a product. When I read over mine it was as if a "tear" had formed in the corner of my eye. Why? because I knew Topps was going to fail me and wanted me to know that the signature they were sending to me was the BASTARD CHILD from the result of Topps sleeping in a bed of greed with BECKETT. I love it when they say in the letter at how they are "trying to obtain the exact card on the redemption". Gee...It makes me want to get a kitten a warm bowel of milk over those warm felt words. Then my favorite, "Due to circumstances beyond our control".....in other words, "OOPS.....we shipped the product before the athlete signed....how sad for you. Here is a kitten with a bowel of warm milk to comfort you. No worries as he will sign soon". So if Toyota advertises a truck with V8 but gives you the same truck with a V6 and charges you the same price as the V8 that is justified in their words? AYE!

Let us call this Exhibit B:

a 2012 Bowman Devon Still autograph is what I received from Topps Customer Service. So they replaced my first round pick from a premium card stock with a second round pick with cheaper card stock. Sounds like they hired the guy from the Trojan company who made sure the second-hand irregular condoms were sold at a premium price for all Ollie's Bargin outlets. I do feel lucky though because some poor hobby lover had it worse than I did. Just look on some of the comments in BLOWOUT CARDS forums as to what they had for replacements.

This is what I had originally:

So was I screwed out of my original card.....again by Topps. My question is should I send it back for something better? My other thoughts are why did they not replace it with something else from Strata? Mark Barron signed other cards-Could they not have replaced it with another Mark Barron autograph? The guy they did send me was from PSU and did they send that to me because I live near PSU ( I despise PSU- GO IRISH!)? Sorry but I can't help but feel like I got a little bit ripped off on this one. The Tribe is far from spoken on this one!

George "Boomer" Scott (March 23, 1944 - July 28, 2013)

George "Boomer" Scott (March 23, 1944-July 28, 2013)

George was a 3x All-Star and 8 Gold Gloves first baseman who spent most of his 14-year career with the Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers. George had also played for the Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees. He was known to have worn his batting helmet at first base and playing ball with a big sense of humor. May you find peace in the arms of the Angels George.

Frank Castillo (April 1, 1969 – July 28, 2013)

Frank Castillo (April 1, 1969 - July 28, 2013)

Frank compiled a 82-104 record in 13 major league seasons. Frank had pitched for the Chicago Cubs, Colorado, Detroit, Toronto, Boston and Florida from 1991 to 2005.
May you find peace in the arms of the Angels Frank.

The Big Kahuna vs Topps via the Better Business Bureau.....FOR WHAT ITS WORTH.

Well after waiting a while and not getting any replies from any Topps Customer Service other than from one person at Topps regarding my pending redemptions (2) who understood my frustrations but could not do anything at all, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I filed on July 2 and the BBB sent a letter on July 8th to Topps and this was the reply I got back today from Topps:

Dear Tim Hertzog :

MESSAGE FROM BUSINESS:

Hi Tim,

We're sorry to hear you've waited such a long time for this card. Unfortunately, Mark Barron has not signed these cards yet. When a card is meant to be put into production, we only insert redemption cards when we have a deal with the athlete in question, and the athlete's agent. Unfortunately, this does not always guarantee as timely signing session, as professional athletes travel frequently, as well as have varying degrees of willingness to sign cards for us.

We only keep a very small percentage of what we print, which is why, if we replace this card for you ,we cannot guarantee any specific player. We can only promise that it will be a football athlete that has the same Beckett Book (memorabilia pricing) value.

Please let us know if you would like a suitable replacement, or if you would like hold off until hopefully Mr.Barron signs these cards.

Thank you.

From what I can recall Topps has these athletes sign a contract. Does not Topps put a payment clause  and signatures requested by a certain date in the contract if the athlete does not sign his "stickers" and thus the contract becomes voided when the athlete fails to do his part? Are they paying them before they get the signatures from the athletes? And why is BECKETT still in the same bed with Topps (Beckett book value)? Unfortunately that is one relationship that will never decease.

Also I'm sorry but there is no way in hell that Topps sends out quality same Beckett book value cards in exchange. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF LOYAL COLLECTORS THAT CAN TESTIFY TO WHAT TOPPS HAS GIVEN THEM IN EXCHANGE FOR THEIR HIGH VALUE CARDS AND IT'S HIGHWAY ROBBERY what some collectors have received! Something has to be done. Someone has to see that this is a headache for everyone involved.

Speak out folks! How were you effected by the redemptions?

The Tribe has spoken!

TOPPS redemption department......apparently has been fired!

Well......in a another "bright" move by Topps and their lovely redemption department they are now making "staff changes" and the redemption replacements process will be delayed for at least a month. I found this out today when I called about my pending Topps Strata Mark Barron autograph redemption that has been forever in the making. I could not get any replies on twitter and I did not hear anything from my email ticket. Here's a funny note from outlook about Topps support about the email ticket:

Be careful! This sender failed our fraud detection checks.

Anyhow, I decided to place a call into the Topps CS dept. and spin the wheel of "what line will you be fed today." After 5 minutes of waiting and hearing David Wright blah blah blah I suddenly was talking with a live person....yeah! I will admit the lady was very kind with me on the phone today and after explaining my issue to her she even said that she can completely understand my frustration with the redemptions. She also politely explained to me that their redemption department is undergoing significant necessary staff changes at this time and that it may be about a month till they resume starting it back up. She told me that I could call back then and see about a replacement if they did not get any more of Marks autographed stickers returned. My thought first thought was, "wow......honesty." My second thought was, "DAMN STICKER AUTOS." She also mentioned that they are still shipping things once it reaches 10,000 as well. Just great. BARF......so much better. Oh well....at least I got some honesty instead a BS line of spew.

Chicken Scratch: Maurice Ager Edition

Welcome to another fun edition of "Chicken Scratch". Today we will be looking at the awesome and inspiring autograph of Maurice Ager. Let us gaze upon the painstaking effort and dedication of an autograph that is so well written that Socrates and Shakespeare themselves would be so inspired that they.....well.....here.....take a look at it for yourself. It's fast so look at it closely and quickly!

Did you see it? Look again!

This has to be one of the most laziest autographs in all of sports today. And you know Topps just accepts whatever is given to them. I would think that someone would make him resign the stickers but then it would mean redemptions and then you'd probably be waiting 2 years for the autos to come back in to Topps. But before that happens you would be issued a replacement autograph and it would probably be an autograph of one of the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball scouts. There is just no excuse for this autograph. On the bright side of this tragedy he did manage to at least get the letter A in his last name to be clearly visible.

YOU'RE FIRED!!!

The Big Kahuna has fired all of his staff since he felt he should've been the number one blog in the month of April 2013. "I felt that with all of the hard work I've done that we should've been able to capture that glorious moment of being the number one blog on Goggle search and we failed miserably. I don't want to shed any weight over this firing of the staff members issue and I swear on a fish's ass that it had nothing to do with being number 37 on the list." The Big Kahuna did not visibly appear to be bitter about not being the number one choice by Goggle but simply stated what he felt in his gut that since he does all of the work around here that he should be the one to reap all of the benefits. The Big Kahuna also stated that in order to keep production costs down that he would be liquidating his staff immediately and cancelling the corporate free ice cream credit cards.

(we are not the company who has been voted "worst company" two years in a row by The Consumerist) have decided to spread cheer and wealth across the land in hopes of making men merry enough to dance even more with their wives, act giddy like little school girls, spray "HAIR NET" hairspray on their chest hairs and spread the word across the land that their is hope and a gift offering that will make men proud to have hair sprayed stiff chest hairs and that their sons and daughters will be as happy as lemmings jumping off the cliffs to their unknowingly demise. Cats will eat dogs and birds will eat snails. Women will be so overjoyed that they will form unions dedicated to making men lower on the food chain and.......

WTH?!?!?!

I really need to adjust my meds!

Here are the guidelines for the gift/giveaway offering:

I can't believe this happened in Boston.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Boston, the first responders, Police forces, all runners and their families in Boston. I certainly hope that we can take the right paths to solving this terroristic act quickly, thoroughly, and quietly while bringing justice to those who are guilty for this horrendous act.

Look at what I pulled from my only redemption pack of Topps Silver Slate:

Funny thing.....his jersey number is 8. I might have to throw this card up on Ebay unless you want to trade for it.

Chicken Scratch: Jarrod Parker Edition

In this lovely edition of "Chicken Scratch", we are looking at the autograph of Oakland A's Pitcher Jarrod Parker. Jarrod was drafted 9th by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the 2007 MLB Draft and then was traded to the Oakland A's in December 2011.

When you observe his rookie card from 2008 Bowman Chrome you can clearly see on this card

that he signed, "his" version of his full name on the card . Although his name cannot be fully recognized by his signature, for the most part you can make out the "J" and the "P".

The card that you're looking at for this edition of "CS" is from 2013 Topps Baseball series one "Chasing the Dream" insert. Allow your eyes to gaze upon the signature. Now, move ahead five years later after the Bowman Chrome card and his autograph seems to have a bit of change in its presentation.

This may be in part due to a limited amount of signing space because of the type of sticker that is used for signing or he's getting older and has signed his name a hundred thousand times and does not care what it looks like.

Once again another "on card" version of his autograph:

Honestly this card almost looks like it was signed in Japanese to a degree almost. You can make out the "J" and not a whole lot of other letters. It almost looks like the initials of HVE or HVX. Either way it's hard to make out his name.

Death by Furby......only in the lovely old state of PA

Saw this on the news and had a good chuckle over it. Especially when my son asked if I thought the PS Remote would break. Really must've been a slow day in Pittsburgh for news.

Pa. woman charged with assault after throwing toy

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A western Pennsylvania woman faces a charge of simple assault after police say she threw a Furby toy and a PlayStation remote at her boyfriend.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Thursday (http://bit.ly/YF7t4W ) that 27-year-old Ashley Trimmer was fighting with her live-in boyfriend over a Facebook post.
She allegedly hit him on one side of the head with the fuzzy toy and on the other side with the remote control.
Police tell the newspaper the boyfriend had red marks and suffered a small cut but didn't require hospital treatment.

From the LCS $5.00 auto box: Russell Wilson Edition

My LCS (Denny's Cards and Creations) now has a $5.00 autograph box. There was dozens of certified autographs from the year 1998 and up in it with some of them being first round picks who would never be heard from again after one season. Some of them were career long minor league players. There were even a few semi star players as well as I got closer to the end of the box. Then when I got to the end of the stack and it was the last card I was surprised to have found this little guy:

This guy was at the end of the line or so it seems like it's been that way for Russell Wilson for most of his life. Everybody told him he wouldn't make it in the NFL as an undersized third-round pick, (5ft11", 208lbs). I would say he made some pretty bold statements in the way that he played in his rookie year. Russell was very efficient!
This card is the 2012 Press Pass Fanfare Autos and it's #90/199.

I gave into the peer pressure........welcome topps 2013

Just like a scene from the after school tv specials in the 80's I felt like I was getting peer pressured into buying Topps 2013 Baseball at my LCS. There was an old fat guy sitting on a tiny stool from across the room who was saying to me, "you might want to try a box of them big packers. You might get something special in them because I did." He then proceeds to show me an autographed card of Dee Gordan. He then tells me that Dee is a hot item in a Dodgers uniform. I politely declined his offer and then I asked for a box of jumbo baseball and then I headed out the door quickly because I could not contain my laughter much more.

When I got home I opened up my box of jumbo 2013 Topps Baseball with much anticipation as I was very curious to see if I could pull one of the Cy Young relic cards. For some odd reason I have found myself to be liking these cards very much.

Here are the damages:

Chasing History Andre Ethier Game Used Jersey Card.

JACKPOT

Roy Halladay Cy Young Relic card.

Some die cut cards of Matt Cain, Dustin Pedroia, and Carlos Gonzalez. I might send these to the players to see if I can get them autographed.

Jarrod Parker Chasing the Dream autographed card. THOSE BLOODY WANKERS WITH THEIR BLOODY STICKERS! Okay I'm done complaining. If that's Jarrod's signature that is.......really......bad!

DING DING DING we have a winner!

Dylan Bundy Camouflage Edition. It's limited to 99 copies and I will let you guess what the serial number is out of 99.
